Seminar title: THE STRANGE CHARM OF CHARM
Abstract: In spite of the fancy title the seminar will cover a reasonable part of charm physics, from production to decay. Particular reference is made to two experiments: E687 and E831 performed in the Wide Band Photon Laboratory at Fermilab where a very precise spectrometer has been exposed twice to photon beams: the first run in years 1987-1991 (when a statistics of over 100,000 fully reconstructed charm meson golden mode was collected) and the second run in years 1996-1997 when the experiment collected a statistics increased by about a factor of 12, collecting a total of more than 7.5 billion triggers heavily enriched in charmed particles. It is the highest charm statistics ever collected in a fixed target experiment, dominated mostly by the systematic errors, the statistical error being irrelevant in most cases. In the talk the latest results on some of the topics presently under study will be also shown.
